Reflectance Normalization in Illumination-Based Image Manipulation Detection

چکیده
One approach to detect spliced images is to compare the lighting environment of suspicious objects or persons in the scene. The original method, proposed by Johnson and Farid, requires an investigator to mark occluding contours of multiple objects, from which the distribution of the incident light intensity is estimated. Unfortunately, this method imposes relatively strict constraints on the user and on the scene under investigation. In this work, we propose a color-normalization approach to relax one important constraint. With our modification, a user is able to select the contours from multiple different materials (instead of having to use a single material). The proposed method will automatically compensate the differences in the reflected intensities. We demonstrate the robustness of the method with a carefully designed ground-truth dataset, consisting of 10 subjects, each of them under 3 controlled lighting environments. With the proposed method, lighting direction as a forensic cue becomes applicable to a much wider range of natural images.

Image Enhancement via Reducing Impairment Effects on Image Components
In this paper, a new approach is presented for improving image quality. It provides a new outlook on how to apply the enhancment methods on images. Image enhancement techniques may deal with the illumination, resolution, or distribution of pixels values. Issues such as the illumination of the scene and reflectance of objects affect on image captures. Generally, the pixels value of an image is ...

We work on a Bayesian approach to the estimation of the specular component of a color image, based on the Dichromatic Reflection Model (DRM). The separation of diffuse and specular components is important for color image segmentation, to allow the segmentation algorithms to work on the best estimation of the reflectance of the scene. In this work we postulate a prior and likelihood energies tha...

Foreword The INFace (Illumination Normalization techniques for robust Face recognition) toolbox is a collection of Matlab functions and scripts intended to help researchers working in the filed of face recognition. The toolbox was produced as a byprod-uct of my research work. It includes implementations of the following photomet-ric normalization techniques: the single-scale-retinex algorithm, ...
متن کاملIllumination-Invariant Change Detection
Moving objects in image sequences acquired by a static camera can be detected by analyzing the grey–level difference between successive frames. Direct motion detection, however, will also detect fast variations of scene illumination. This paper describes a method for motion detection that is considerably less sensitive to time–varying illumination. It is based on combining a motion detection al...
متن کاملIllumination Normalization for Color Face Images
The performance of appearance based face recognition algorithms is adversely affected by illumination variations. Illumination normalization can greatly improve their performance. We present a novel algorithm for illumination normalization of color face images. Face Albedo is estimated from a single color face image and its co-registered 3D image (pointcloud). Unlike existing approaches, our al...
